Happy stuff

Two weeks ago Sandra, from the blog Cherry Heart, told me in her podcast I won a price. Yay! I'd won some Stylecraft goodies.
Now, what those goodies exactly were I did not know. In the podcast she showed a bag, a keyring, some lovely tags and some yarn. So it wasn't all a surprise, but which yarn I'd receive, I did not know.
And oh, lucky me, I got three balls of Stylecraft Batik and a ball of Knit Tweed, colour Islay. The Knit Tweed is a super chunky yarn I can combine with my balls of Cygnet Seriously Chunky. I might make a bag with this combination of yarn, or a basket or a cowl, I am not sure yet.
The Batik is a very soft yarn, 80% acrylic and 20% wool, and I think I am going to make a shawl with it. The colours I got: Graphite, Olive and Indigo. Love, love, love the Olive ... 💚 For a shawl I need a bit more yarn, as three balls won't be enough.
As I got an invitation for the Knit & Knot-beurs in Tilburg, I'll wait with purchasing extra Batik, as I hope to find it there. This Knit & Knot fair will be held for the third time and I haven't been to the previous two fairs. It is a fair all about yarn, crocheting and knitting. Ow, talking about knitting, remember my sock? I dropped a stitch, while working on the heel flap, as my needles were só slippery and I couldn't solve it. So the only thing I could do was to unravel the bloody thing. Yep, have to start allover again. 😣

* Sigh * ....

Knitting some socks ....

It is one of my goals this year: to knit a pair of socks. I've been trying that since last year, but knitting socks is hard. For me it is. But when I see the pretty socks from Cherry Heart's Sandra, Jools from Sew Sweet Violet and Sam from Betsy Makes I just knów I want to be able to do this, too. I am now at my third attempt.😏
My second 'sock' is still on my needles, as it is my practice sock. When in doubt about the pattern I'll use that sock. This time I use yarn I'd bought three years ago in England. It's Sirdar Crofter DK (colour no. 45), a blend of acrylic, wool and cotton and I love the colours. It's not proper sock yarn, so I'll have to see how this works out.
Two days ago I finished the cuff, 15 rows (knit 2, purl 2), and three rows of the leg. But the next day I started to knit the cuff pattern again. Why??? I wasn't clearly paying attention, silly me. I noticed my mistake at row twenty. Ah well, no-one will see it. I think. The pattern I am using is WinwickMum's (Christine) sockalong-pattern. As she is English and I am Dutch it is an extra challenge to follow this pattern, but so far it is all very clear. There are lots of photos and any mistakes I make are entirely my own fault. Now, for this particular sock I did a few things differently. I used 3mm dpn's and my circular needle is also 3mm as the only 2,5mm circular I have is the one in the above photo.
And that is why I casted on 56 stitches instead of 60 stitches. Maybe this sock will be slightly too big, we'll see. The leg and cuff are now 60 rows long and I think it's time for the heel flap ....
